ILI Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA, LPTA) perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education aimed at improving/enhancing the patient's well-being while following the established plan of care.

Essential Functions
  • Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist and following the plan of care, instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.

  • Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, the supervising nurse, and/or the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.

  • Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in the areas of therapy in which they can participate to assist the patient.

  • Visits patients according to the plan of care and documents each visit per ILI Therapy Staffing policy.

  • Participates in developing the PT plan of care.

  • Participates in staff conferences and committees as necessary.

  • Adheres to ILI Therapy Staffing Standards of Practice in provision of services to all patients.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 
License Requirements
  • Current Massachusetts Physical Therapy Assistant license 

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program

  • Current CPR certification

  • Current Massachusetts driver's license and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle.

 
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, turn and transfer patients weighing up to 200 pounds

  • Must be able to carry bundles upstairs weighing up to 10 pounds

  • Must be able to stoop and bend

  • Must be able to travel to prospective patients place of residence

  • Must be able to hear and speak in a manner understood by most persons
