ILI Occupational Therapists (COTA) facilitate the development and rehabilitation of patients with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy.

Essential Functions
  • Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and following the plan of care, instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.

  • Visits patients according to the plan of care and documents each visit per ILI Therapy Staffing policy. 

  • Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by Massachusetts state laws, in accordance with the plan of care.

  • Observes and reports the patient's response to treatment and any changes in his/her condition to the supervising nurse and/or the physician.

  • Participates in staff conferences and committees as necessary.

  • Provides supervision of the COTA per ILI Therapy Staffing policy.

  • Adheres to ILI Therapy Staffing Standards of Practice in provision of services to all patients.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 
License Requirements
  • Current Massachusetts Occupational Therapy Assistant license 

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

  • Current CPR certification

  • Current Massachusetts driver's license and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle.

 
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, turn and transfer patients weighing up to 200 pounds

  • Must be able to carry bundles upstairs weighing up to 10 pounds

  • Must be able to stoop and bend

  • Must be able to travel to prospective patients place of residence

  • Must be able to hear and speak in a manner understood by most persons
